Postcrossing No. 4

This is my 4th postcard for PostCrossing category.

It will travel all the way to Florida, USA. The photo depicting traditional cultures which are preserved by craftsmen. In this case it's "batik" cloth printing.

Maiden Postcard Arrived in USA

I received notification from www.postcrossing.com that my maiden postcard arrived safely in the USA. the recipient happily wrote to be honored to have received my maiden postcard and made it as her favourite.

Now I am anxious to receive a postcard from someone. I think it will take between 10 to 14 days for a postacard to arrive here in Malaysia if it is sent from the Americas. Probably less time from Europe. Anyhow, I really look forward to that postcard.

I also shared this "new hobby" of mine with a friend.

Cheers.

First Postcard Exchange

I came back today and saw a postcard in our mailbox. I was so happy and wasted no time to show to my daughter. She was thrilled :)

It came from Dhemz. All the way from San Antonio, Texas. It was a map of Texas and my daughter immediately asked me a couple of questions about Texas.

This is great.

Multiple Posting

Today I managed to go to the pos office during lunch hours and bought some stamps. Sending a postcard from Malaysia to anywhere in the world requires 50 cents stamp. It is about USD0.17.

Interestingly, for some mundane reason, the post office did not have any 50 cents stamp! The girl told me that the headquaters people did not send any stock to them. They only have combination of 40 cents and 5 cents stamps. So each postcard should have 1x40 cents and 2x5 cents stamps. Good for my recipients because they will get 3 stamps! I guess, it is a blessingnin disguise.

All together i sent 5 postcards. 1 for www.postcrossing.com and the rest were for postcard exchange.

Postcard Exchange

This is my first postcard exchange sending. I managed to get the recipient through Facebooksearch. This lovely postcard will travel to the USA.

Here is the postcard.

I have asked the recipient to address the reply to my daughter. I am sure she will be thrilled to receive the postcard. I expect the reply will come within 4 weeks. A long wait, but it will worth it.

Maiden Postcard for Postcrossing

Today I am sending my maiden postcard for postcrossing. It will travel 15,000km++, all the way to the east coast of the United States. I am expecting the postcard will travel between 10 - 15 days. Looking forward to see it gets registered at www.postcrossing.com

Here is the postcard.

I choose this landmark because it is located in my home town of Malacca. It is a remnant of the A'Famosa. The main gate of a fort built by the Portugese in 16th century.

Postcrossing for My Daughter Begins

I have been encouranging and helping my daughter to build her own stamps and postcards collection. So far we have been doing ok.

I have managed to get my niece in London and New York to send us some stamps and postcards.

My wife went around Europe last year sent some postcards from various places; London, Paris, Switzerland, etc.

My brother went to Kenya last year and sent us a few postcards.

Some friends, vacationing, staying and working overseas also sent us stamps and postcards; Pattaya, Frankfurt, Sydney, Doha, Bangalore, etc.

I also bought from eBay and local auction site.

And, interestingly, I managed to find people from FB and exchanged stamps with them; Austria.

The most recent stamps were from a friend who went to Wisconsin USA earlier this year.

Yesterday, I stumbled into www.postcrossing.com. Interesting website where you send postcards to people around the world randomly and in return you will get postcards from all over the world!

I decided to register (free) and about to go out to find some interesting postcards about Malaysia and ready to send 1 postcard to USA tomorrow.

Hope this is going to be fun and educational for my daughter.
